How to use your aloe vera gel
01
Fresh leaf or ready-to-use gel?
A fresh leaf from the garden is lovely, but it does not keep long and its yellow latex can irritate skin. Our gel is easy to scoop out cleanly, keeps a consistent texture and travels well, to the beach or further afield.
02
Layer it, don't replace
Aloe brings water, not oil. Apply it first to damp skin or hair, then seal with a few drops of oil or a little butter. On curls, it is the first step of the LOC method, before the oil and the cream.
03
Store it well
Close the jar after each use and scoop the gel out with a spatula or clean hands. Keep it away from heat and light; kept in the fridge, it feels even more refreshing in summer. Follow the period-after-opening shown on the label.
Frequently asked questions
Is aloe vera gel suitable for the face?
Yes. Apply it to clean skin morning and evening, on its own or under a few drops of jojoba oil. Its light texture suits combination and oily skin as well as sensitive skin. Patch test on the inside of your elbow 24 to 48 hours before first use and avoid the immediate eye area.
How do I use it on curly hair?
On freshly washed, damp hair, apply a small amount of gel section by section, then seal with a light oil such as flaxseed or a soft butter such as avocado. It helps define curls and keep humidity-related frizz in check. Leave to air-dry or use a diffuser.
Can I use it after sun exposure or shaving?
Yes. A thin layer after a day at the beach or after shaving leaves a fresh feeling and soft skin. It does not replace sun protection. If you have a burn, significant redness or broken skin, ask a healthcare professional for advice.
How should I store the gel?
Close the jar tightly after use, keep it away from heat and sunlight, and scoop the gel with clean hands.
